ANIMAL HEALTH TRUST
The Animal Health Trust is a large UK-based veterinary charity dedicated to promoting animal welfare through improved understanding of diseases in cats, dogs and horses. Situated in a beautiful location just four miles from Newmarket the AHT has a multi-disciplinary small animal referral clinic, an equine referral clinic and a number of research groups (including virology, epidemiology, pathology, genetics, and molecular oncology).
The small animal clinic is dedicated to providing the highest standards of patient care, and has an active programme of clinical research and post-graduate training (internships and residencies). We currently have specialist teams in dermatology, diagnostic imaging, anaesthesia, neurology/ neurosurgery, oncology, ophthalmology, internal medicine and soft tissue surgery.
Orthopaedic Surgeon
We are currently seeking an Orthopaedic Surgeon to join our team of clinicians in the small animal hospital. The candidate should be an EVCS or ACVS diplomate, although board-eligible surgeons will also be considered. The successful candidate will be expected to develop their own referral caseload in small animal orthopaedics, as well as working closely with our existing soft tissue surgery and neurology/neurosurgery departments. Candidates are expected to share out-of-hours responsibilities for the soft tissue surgery caseload, and there may be an opportunity to participate in some of the neurosurgical caseload and help with our neurology and neurosurgical residency training.
Development of a residency training programme would be strongly encouraged, and time will also be allocated for clinical research activities.
The successful candidate will be keen to work as part of a well integrated multi-disciplinary clinic, and eager to develop the area of small animal orthopaedics in a rewarding and friendly environment.
Soft Tissue Surgeon
We have an immediate vacancy for a Soft Tissue Surgeon to join our team of clinicians in the small animal clinic. We are ideally looking for an ECVS/ACVS diplomate, but would also consider a board-eligible candidate with appropriate training and experience. The successful candidate will be working closely alongside our existing oncology and internal medicine units and will also be expected to develop their own referral caseload. An interest and willingness to be involved in some orthopaedic surgery would be an advantage, and time will also be given to encourage clinical research activities.
We are looking for a colleague who is keen to work as part of a well integrated multi-disciplinary clinic, and to help us further develop our surgery caseload in a rewarding and friendly environment.
For further information on the above positions, please contact Sue Murphy, Head of Internal Medicine/Oncology, sue.murphy@aht.org.uk, Luisa De Risio, Head of Neurology/Neurosurgery, luisa.derisio@aht.org.uk or Colette Jolliffe, Head of Anaesthesia/Analgesia, colette.jolliffe@aht.org.uk
Closing date for both the above roles: 26 March 2010.
Dermatologist
We are currently looking for a second clinician to help manage our expanding small animal and equine caseload. Ideally you should be an ECVD/ACVD diploma-holder, but we would also consider a board-eligible candidate with appropriate training and experience. This would preferably be a full-time position, although we will consider candidates interested in part-time work.
You will work alongside our existing Dermatologist and closely with our other specialist units, including internal medicine, ophthalmology and soft tissue surgery. If you are also interested in contributing to our clinical research programme, we are able to offer a wide range of support and dedicated time for this.
Working as part of a well integrated, multi-disciplinary clinic, our new colleague will be eager to help us further develop our dermatology caseload, working in a rewarding and friendly environment with an attractive salary.
For informal enquiries, please contact Jane Coatesworth, Acting Head of Dermatology, jane.coatesworth@aht.org.uk
Closing date: 15 March 2010.
If you are interested in applying for any of these positions, please forward your CV and covering letter, stating why you are interested in the role and your current salary, to recruitment@aht.org.uk or Samantha Bal, Human Resources Assistant, Animal Health Trust, Lanwades Park, Kentford, Newmarket CB8 7UU.
