How to use the Vet Record Careers iPhone app
Search
Use the structured search or a free text keyword search.
To use the structured search, choose a category, select your search criteria and tap ‘Search’.
Tip: To select everything in a menu, such as all regions, leave the menu as it is and ‘Select all’ will be shown.
To use the keyword search, type a search term in the free text field, eg ‘Equine' and tap ‘Search’
You can sort your search results by date posted or closing date by tapping on the relevant button at the top of the list.
Saving a search
To save time, you can save searches so you don’t have to select your criteria again each time you use the app.
To save a search simply conduct a search, get your results and tap ‘Save search; in the top right hand corner. Your search will jump into your ‘Saved’ items. You can delete any searches you’ve made by tapping the ‘Edit’ button.
Getting alerts
You can get alerts for a search you’ve saved by tapping the green ‘Get alerts’ button. When jobs arrive that match the criteria of your search, a badge will appear on the app’s icon showing you the number of new matching jobs. The badge also appears in the ‘More’ tab. Tap on ‘More’ and then ‘Job alerts’ to view your new jobs.
To switch off alerts for a search, tap on the red ‘Stop Alerts’ button next to your saved search.
Tip: To enable alerts you must turn on Notifications for the Vet record Careers App in your device’s settings. Go to Settings>Notifications> and turn Badges on for the Vet Record Careers app. You must also set ‘Alerts’ to ‘on’ in the app’s settings.
Viewing a job
Tap on a job’s headline in your search results to view the full details for the job.
You can adjust the text size with the –A and A+ buttons. If the job has any attached documents, like a job description, tap the paperclip symbol at the bottom to view them.
Sharing a job
You can share a job via email, Facebook or Twitter
To share a job, tap ‘Share job’ when your viewing the job’s text, and then choose from the three options. Send an email (tip: you must have set up email on your device to do this), share a link to the job on your Facebook page, or send a Tweet containing a link to the job (tip: you must have a Facebook or Twitter account to use these options)
Saving a job
If you want to save a job, simply tap the ‘Save job’ button in the top right of your screen. The job will jump into your ‘Saved’ items, where you can read it offline at your leisure. To delete a job from your saved items, tap ‘Edit’ and delete the job.
Most Recent
As you make searches and look at jobs, they’ll be added to your ‘Most Recent’ list so you can quickly refer to something you looked at earlier. You can set the number of items that are remembered in ‘Settings’. You can also empty the lists by tapping ‘Clear’
